You don’t want to mess with this dad! Dean McDermott wasn’t about to let anyone body-shame his kids. This week, after some online trolls started picking on his children, Dean stepped up big time to defend them. It all started when Tori Spelling, Dean’s wife, shared a sweet family photo on Instagram. The image featured their five kids—Liam, 11, Stella, 10, Hattie, 7, Finn, 6, and Beau, 22 months—at a special screening of the movie A Dog’s Way Home. The picture also included Tori’s old Beverly Hills 90210 co-star, Ian Ziering, along with his family. Tori captioned the post with a nostalgic note about how she and Ian had once played teens Steve Sanders and Donna Martin on the show and now were married parents to seven kids who all loved each other.
But instead of positive vibes, the comment section took a dark turn. Some commenters were downright cruel, asking why Tori let her kids "get so fat" and even calling them "terrible" in the picture. When Dean saw these harsh words, he knew he had to step in and set the record straight.
View this post on InstagramI can’t believe @ianziering and I once played BH teens Steve Sanders and Donna Martin and now we are married to the loves of our lives and between us have 7 kiddos who all adore each other! . Tonight, @erinziering and I hosted a screening of @adogswayhome for @sonypictures at @sohohouse fir family and friends and a massive kiddo takeover. . What a special movie! It’ll make you laugh, cry, and go Ahhhh many times. We all loved it! What a special night (even in this crazy LA rain)

“I’m absolutely horrified and disgusted by the comments being left about my children,” Dean wrote in response to the nasty remarks. “Body-shaming and bullying my kids? What is wrong with you people? For your information, we just came from a long day at school before heading to the movie. And I don’t know any child who isn’t a little disheveled after a long day. Plus, right before this picture was taken, they were running around and wrestling with all the other kids there.”
The star of Open Range didn’t stop there. He went on to explain, “So yeah, we didn’t bust out the iron and steamer to make them look perfect for you. They’re kids. They’re messy and dirty. That’s what kids do. And what’s wrong with shopping at Target? Over half of America shops there. The way kids grow out of clothes so fast is crazy. Are we supposed to shop at Gucci now? These are kids, folks. They’re messy, stinky, little bundles of fun, laughter, and love.”

Dean wasn’t done yet. He added, “They’re going through different growth phases, and even if our kids are on the bigger side, who cares? They’re happy and healthy, and I’m sorry if they don’t look like skinny supermodels. People come in all shapes and sizes. So who are you to judge? You should all be ashamed of yourselves for passing such horrible judgment on innocent, beautiful children. Shame on you all!”
He concluded with a heartfelt message of gratitude: “Thank you to everyone who came to our defense. You’re all kind and compassionate souls. Down with the haters! Up with love!”
Dean wasn’t the only one ready to fight for his kids. Back in September 2018, Tori herself stood up to critics who were shaming her children. In an Instagram post, she expressed her frustration with the negativity. “I am a proud mama bear and I enjoy sharing our family journey with my family, friends, fans, and online supportive and loyal community,” she wrote. “For all the individuals who felt the need to #momshame and #kidshame me and my children, I say, ‘Shame on you!’ I was raised to believe that if you can’t say anything nice about someone, then don’t say anything at all.”
