Body Shaming During Pregnancy: Abby Huntsman Opens Up

Body Shaming During Pregnancy: Abby Huntsman Opens Up

Let me tell you, folks, this is not okay. During a recent episode of The View, pregnant co-host Abby Huntsman revealed that she’s been body-shamed since announcing she’s expecting twins with her husband, Jeffrey Bruce Livingston. The conversation started when Abby’s co-star Whoopi Goldberg brought up Melissa McCarthy’s confession about being criticized for her "tremendous size" during an interview. That’s when Abby felt compelled to share her own experiences with weight-related criticism.

Melissa McCarthy Talks About the Unrealistic Expectations Placed on Women

“I’ve experienced a whole new level of judgment being pregnant this time,” Abby explained, her voice filled with emotion. “The last few days have been especially tough. People have come up to me and said things like, ‘Oh, you’re only four months along? You look a lot further than that. You look a lot bigger than you should be at this point.’” Abby paused for a moment, clearly shaken by the memory. “Listen, folks, these are things you just don’t say. When you're pregnant, all you care about is the health of your babies. The size of your body? That’s irrelevant. It’s not something anyone should be critiquing.”

    Support from Abby’s Colleagues

Abby’s colleague Meghan McCain couldn’t agree more. Meghan has faced her own share of body-shaming from inconsiderate journalists in the past, so she understood exactly what Abby was going through. Meghan recounted how reporters had once told her, “You’re so brave, you never lost weight,” without realizing how offensive and hurtful their comments truly were. “I wish for women we could just move past the ridiculous notion that everyone has to be a size 0 or 2 to succeed in any field,” Meghan passionately told the audience. “That’s just a load of nonsense, folks.”

As the world continues to celebrate this exciting news, we hope Abby gets to enjoy the rest of her pregnancy without any further body-shaming remarks.
