Dolly Parton's Heartfelt Absence At The Golden Globes

Dolly Parton's Heartfelt Absence At The Golden Globes

Let me tell you something interesting. Dolly Parton was nominated for Best Original Song at the Golden Globes for her track "Girl in the Movies" from the Netflix movie Dumplin’. Surprisingly, though, she wasn’t there on the big night. Linda Perry, who co-wrote the song with Dolly, shared the reason exclusively with Closer Weekly. In the latest issue, now on newsstands, Linda revealed, "There’s family stuff going on, and her brother just passed away." She explained that Dolly, who’s 72, had family health issues that kept her away. Dolly’s youngest brother and frequent songwriting partner, Floyd Parton, tragically passed away in December at the age of 61.

Stars Who Brought Their Children to the 2019 Golden Globes

Now, here's a fun twist. While we were all focused on the glitz and glamour of the Golden Globes, some stars decided to bring their kids along for the ride. Among them was Ben Stiller, who proudly walked the red carpet with his children. But let’s circle back to Dolly for a moment. Linda Perry, who worked closely with Dolly on the nominated song, said she’s spotted Carl Dean, Dolly’s husband, in a unique way. “I saw the sight of Carl in Dolly’s eyes when she talks about him, and he’s in her heart,” Linda shared. She described Carl as someone Dolly is “very deeply in love with.” Linda, who is 53, felt a profound connection with Dolly. “We look so different, but creatively we’re soulmates,” she said.

The Love Story Behind the Scenes

Even though Carl and Dolly aren’t often seen together in public, Carl has been the love of Dolly’s life since they first met over 50 years ago. In a past interview, Dolly described her husband as “a home-loving person who doesn’t have any desire to be in show business.” She added that their marriage works because they don’t demand much from each other. “I think it’s healthy for us to spend time apart,” Dolly has said. “And I don’t get jealous. It never crosses my mind. And if Carl does something, I never want to know.”

    Dolly’s Adoration for Carl

Dolly has openly expressed her admiration for Carl’s honesty and decency, appreciating how he lets her be herself. “There’s no way in heaven’s name that I could ever leave Carl,” Dolly once said. “He’s just the funniest, wittiest guy in the world.”
