Let’s talk about a true entertainment icon, Marie Osmond. This incredible woman has been dazzling audiences since she was just four years old. With a career spanning decades, she’s crossed paths with countless legendary musicians. One name that stands out? The King of Rock 'n' Roll himself, Elvis Presley. Can you believe it? Let me tell you, this story is worth hearing.
On January 8th, which happened to be Elvis Presley’s 84th birthday, Marie sat down with Andy Cohen on his wildly popular show, Watch What Happens Live. Now, Andy is no stranger to asking tough and intriguing questions, and this time was no different. He wanted to know if Marie had ever met the legendary Elvis Presley during his lifetime. Her response? Oh, it was something else.
Marie shared, “Yeah! Everyone has their Elvis story, but ours is legit. He used to call my mom, Olive Osmond, all the time. He really admired her. In fact, my mom reminded him so much of his own mother that he would often reach out just to chat. And you know what? Every time we went to Vegas, there was always a room filled with flowers—not for us, but for her.”

Marie went on to explain how deeply Elvis impacted their family. She said, “Honestly, I think the reason our family is so open with fans during meet-and-greets is because of Elvis. Towards the end of his life, he became quite isolated, and it really made us realize the importance of staying connected with people. He got lonely, you know?”
Now, while Elvis was all about the late-night parties and rock 'n' roll lifestyle, Marie wasn’t exactly cut from the same cloth. During the interview, she opened up about her own choices. She told Andy, “I believe in living clean, and I truly think it’s helped me. I’ve never smoked or drank, but let me tell you, I’ve had plenty of fun without it.”
When Andy pressed her, asking, “You’ve never smoked or drank, ever?” Marie was firm in her response. She said, “Nope, I had plenty of opportunities. Growing up in show business, you see the consequences of certain lifestyles. It was more of an education for me, and I made a conscious decision not to go down that path. There were lots of chances, but it just wasn’t for me.”
Of course, we all know the tragic end of Elvis’s story. At just 42 years old, he suffered a heart attack, and drugs were found in his system at the time. It’s a reminder of how important it is to take care of ourselves, both physically and mentally.
