When it comes to the world of acting, Leslie Mann’s 20-year-old daughter, Maude Apatow, has made it clear that she’s confident in her own abilities. In a recent chat with Us Weekly, Leslie shared some candid thoughts about her daughter’s journey in Hollywood. Leslie, who's no stranger to the industry herself, admitted that Maude doesn’t exactly come running for career advice—even though Leslie was nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award in 2013 for her role in This Is 40.

“Maude doesn’t really listen to me,” Leslie, 46, revealed with a laugh. “I try to give her tips, but she’s got her own style. She’s her own person.” And honestly, it seems to be working out just fine. Despite not following every word of her mom’s advice, Maude has carved out her own space in Hollywood—not as “Leslie Mann’s daughter,” but as an accomplished actress in her own right.

Maude has already made waves in the industry with roles in Knocked Up, Girls, Euphoria, and This Is 40. Leslie’s youngest daughter, Iris Apatow, 16, has also caught what Leslie humorously refers to as the “acting bug.” Despite the challenges that come with the industry, Leslie is fully supportive of her daughters' career choices. “I feel like acting is a great profession,” she told ABC News. “It’s been good for me and my husband, filmmaker Judd Apatow. It’s hard work, but if it’s what they want to do, I’m all for it.”

Learning from Past Mistakes

Though Maude and Leslie have had different experiences in their careers, Leslie hopes her daughter can avoid some of the pitfalls she faced early on. “When I started, I was really struggling—poor and hungry,” Leslie explained. “Now, Maude, who’s 20, is already an actress, but she’ll still complain about things being hard. And I think, ‘Girl, you’ve got it so much better than I did. You’ve got food in the fridge and nice sheets. You’re doing great!’”
