Over the last eight years, Prince William and Kate Middleton have been on an incredible journey together. From their engagement in 2010 to their fairytale wedding in 2011, and welcoming three beautiful children into their lives, it’s been a whirlwind of milestones for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Back when Prince William sat down for his first official interview as an engaged man, he seemed pretty relaxed about the idea of starting a family. "Let’s take it one step at a time," he casually said, adding that they’d focus on the marriage first before diving into parenthood. But here’s the kicker: it turns out having kids might’ve been higher on his priority list than we thought.

Family First: A Royal’s Hidden Agenda?

Fast forward to now, and royal correspondent Robert Jobson has dropped some interesting insight in his 2010 book, William and Kate: The Love Story. According to Jobson, Prince William's top priority wasn’t just settling down—it was securing the line of succession. That’s right, folks. Even as he was charming the world with his down-to-earth demeanor, this was always part of the plan. As Jobson explains, "Securing the line of succession is one of the prerequisites of the job as an heir to the throne." So while William may have sounded casual about expanding their family during that initial interview, the truth is, it was almost inevitable. After all, he's carrying the weight of a thousand-year-old monarchy on his shoulders.

"I’m concentrating very much on my role as a father," he confessed. "I take my duties and responsibilities to my family incredibly seriously." He went on to say, "I want to bring my children up as good people who understand the importance of service and duty to others. But if I can’t give them the time they need, I worry about their future." With a father like Prince William, you know those little ones are in great hands.
