Hey there, fans of the iconic Sex and the City. Let's talk about a little "what if" scenario that's got everyone buzzing. You remember Charlotte York Goldenblatt, right? The ever-optimistic and romantic one? Well, it seems like her on-screen counterpart, Kristin Davis, had some thoughts about a potential pairing that could've shaken things up in the world of Manhattan's most famous single ladies.
Recently, Kristin Davis, the actress behind the lovable Charlotte, chimed in on a fan theory about what might have happened if her character had ended up with none other than the enigmatic Mr. Big. It’s a match that fans have been speculating about for years, and Kristin had some pretty interesting things to say about it.
Let’s rewind to a post by the Instagram fan account @everyoutfitonsatc, where they dished out some bold ideas about couples that never were in the beloved HBO series. The account suggested pairing up characters who, in their opinion, could've made magic together. Now, we all know Carrie and Mr. Big had their moments, but what about Charlotte and Mr. Big? The fans were all about exploring this unexpected duo, and Kristin had to weigh in.

Here's what the account had to say:
View this post on InstagramTHE LOST COUPLES OF SATC Enough with Carrie and Big, today we are delving into the greatest Sex and the City couples that never were… ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1️⃣ Enid and Petrovsky – Enid had a right to be annoyed with Carrie’s mildly sus age-gap relationship, because The Russian is the ONLY man for her. They’re both career-focused and excessively highbrow. We can easily imagine them dining with Plum Sykes and Larry Gagosian or shopping for matching Goyard trunks at Barneys. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2️⃣ Steve and Carrie – Carrie should be with someone laid-back and unfussy. While not as sophisticated as Big, Steve would have shown her all the best vintage spots in Queens. THAT is true love. His chill athleisure looks would also mesh well with Carrie’s kookier ensembles. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3️⃣ Miranda and Syd – Miranda’s straight male colleague was perceptive as fuck, because this is the EXACT person that Miranda should be set up with. Syd is chill, boyishly handsome, and has the sort of Tig Notaro energy that Miranda desperately needs in her life. We ship the FUCK out of this coupling. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4️⃣ Charlotte and Big – These two would make a truly hot couple. Given Big’s previous wives, Charlotte is his type: thin, brunette, and WASPy. Her optimism would also balance out his sociopathic finance bro tendencies. We can totally see them deciding which Ed Ruscha would look best in their pre-war apartment, before jetting off to the Hamptons.

After the fan account suggested that Charlotte and Mr. Big could've been a match made in Manhattan, Kristin, who’s now 53, shared her thoughts. In her response, she playfully pointed out that while the pair might have had some fun times, it probably wouldn’t have lasted. "I personally think Big would have broken Charlotte," she said. "Though probably some fun would have been had before the inevitable downfall." Ouch, but fair. Sometimes the most exciting relationships are the ones that are doomed from the start, right?
But let’s not forget, in the end, Mr. Big ended up with Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, in the 2010 Sex and the City movie. And while fans love to speculate about what could’ve been, it turns out that if there had been a third Sex and the City movie, Mr. Big might not have been around at all. Shocking, right?

In November, during a podcast with series writer Michael Patrick King, Kristin, Sarah Jessica, and Cynthia Nixon, who played Miranda Hobbes, discussed the potential for a third movie. The host claimed to have seen an early version of the script where Mr. Big was, well, no longer around. But Chris Noth, the actor behind Mr. Big, wasn’t having it. At the British Independent Film Awards in London on Dec. 9, he told The Sun Online, "He wasn't going to die. That was all a lie." So, it seems like the fate of Mr. Big remains as mysterious as ever.
So, what do we take away from all this? It seems like the world of Sex and the City will always be full of surprises, whether it's unexpected pairings or unconfirmed script leaks. But one thing is for sure: the fans will always be here, ready to speculate, ship, and dream about what could’ve been. And who knows? Maybe someday we’ll get another glimpse into the lives of our favorite characters, with or without Mr. Big.
