Charlene Tilton Shares Heartwarming Stories And Life Lessons In Exclusive Interview

Let me tell you something truly remarkable. Charlene Tilton, the beloved star of the iconic nighttime soap Dallas, has transformed into a grandmother, and she’s embracing the role with open arms. “My little grandson calls me Glammy, as in ‘Glam-ma,’” she exclusively told Closer Weekly with a laugh, in the magazine’s latest issue, now available on newsstands. It feels like just yesterday when Charlene was captivating audiences as the mischievous granddaughter, Lucy Ewing, from 1978 to 1990. How time flies, right?

Charlene revisited the set of Dallas in October to receive a Texas Motion Picture Alliance Legacy Award for the show. It was an emotional experience. “Every time I go back to Southfork Ranch, it’s like returning home,” she said. “I spent my formative years there, and the cast truly felt like a family. We still love each other and maintain that closeness today, even after 40 years. It’s incredible!”

Life hasn’t always been a bed of roses for Charlene, but she’s built an incredible life through hard work, resilience, and love. Growing up in poverty with a mentally ill mother, and dealing with the sudden loss of her fiancé in 2010, she’s faced her share of challenges. Yet, this 4-foot-11 powerhouse has found joy in helping actors with autism and being an adoring mom to her daughter, Cherish. Returning to Texas: A Nostalgic Journey

Charlene recently traveled back to Texas to accept an award for her unforgettable contributions to Dallas. It was an emotional reunion. “Some crew members from our very first episode were there, and it brought tears to my eyes to see them,” she shared. Filming the show for three months each year in Texas created deep bonds. “They became our extended family, and it’s heartwarming to reconnect with them after all these years.”

The 40th Anniversary Celebration

Charlene also attended the 40th anniversary event at Southfork Ranch in March. She was amazed by the turnout of young fans. “Linda Gray, Patrick Duffy, Steve Kanaly, and I were astonished by the number of younger people who showed up!” she exclaimed. “They told us, ‘Oh, it’s streaming now, and I’m just discovering it, and it’s amazing.’ It’s incredible to see the show’s legacy continue to inspire new generations.”

A Father Figure: Remembering Larry Hagman

Charlene fondly recalls her relationship with Larry Hagman, who played J.R. Ewing. “Larry was like a father figure to me. He and his wife, Maj, were some of the most wonderful people I’ve ever met. I learned so much from him, not just about acting but about life itself.”

Missing Larry: A Magical Bond

Charlene often reflects on Larry’s larger-than-life presence. “I feel his presence even now, which might sound a little mystical, but it’s true. Before he passed away, during his final days while filming the reboot for TNT, we spent hours just sitting together, looking out the window at downtown Dallas. We fist-bumped for two hours, giggling and enjoying the simple pleasure of watching the city lights flicker. It was magical, and it taught me to appreciate the beauty in life’s simplest moments.”
