Hey there, friend. You know how it is—January rolls around, and suddenly we're all under pressure to announce our grand New Year's resolutions. But let's face it, many of us have already dropped the ball on our goals by mid-January, if not sooner. Even celebrities aren’t immune to this annual struggle. Take Donny Osmond, for example. The beloved singer and dancer recently opened up about his own resolution struggles in a refreshingly honest way.
At 61 years young, Donny took to Instagram to share his resolution with his devoted fans. His message was as relatable as it was hilarious.

Donny's resolution reads, “My resolution for 2019 is to accomplish the goals of 2018, which I should’ve done in 2017, cause I made a promise in 2016.” Talk about honesty! The caption, “#NewYear…same me,” perfectly captures the feeling so many of us can relate to. It’s like he’s saying, “Hey, I’m human too. I make promises, and sometimes I don’t keep them. But I’m still trying!”
On the flip side, Donny’s sister, Marie Osmond, took a more optimistic approach to the new year. Instead of sharing a resolution, Marie opted to post a motivational quote by Wilma Rudolph on her Instagram. The quote reads, “When the sun is shining I can do anything; no mountain is too high, no trouble too difficult to overcome.”
View this post on InstagramHey 2018! Thank you, it was a very good year!! And as wonderful as this year has been, next year is going to be even better…you know why? Because I said so! 🤣 I’m joking but isn’t life a lot more fun when you expect things to be great? And the best way to expect things to be great is to “choose happy” • One of the things I enjoy the most about blogging on Sunday is connecting with all of you. I love hearing about your lives – the good times and even the bad times. But when I read that you’re unhappy, it saddens me knowing I’m unable to help you. So.. let’s do this together, let’s choose happy. Let’s boot those negative thoughts right over the fence and remember how powerful we are. If I were to make a New Year’s resolution it would be to remember this little meme in the photo…. • “When the sun is shining I can do anything, no mountain is too high, no trouble too difficult to overcome.” • I might add… • And nothing will create my weather… because I will always choose the light. 🌞 • Don’t forget how powerful you are! And lets whisper in 2019’s ear that we are “choosing happy” this go ‘round! • #HappyNewYear!!

Marie’s message is a gentle reminder that we have the power to choose happiness, even when things get tough. She encourages her followers to focus on positivity and to believe in their own strength. It’s like she’s saying, “Hey, life isn’t always easy, but we can still choose to see the light.”
Despite their differing approaches to the new year, Donny and Marie still share a deep bond. In a recent interview with Closer Weekly, Marie spoke about the unique relationship she has with her brother. “We can finish each other’s sentences and we know what each other’s thinking,” she said with a laugh, adding, “but we never see eye-to-eye. That’s our chemistry: it’s toxic.”
Marie went on to explain that while they may be very different people—Donny loves structure and organization, while she prefers a more spontaneous approach—they have a chemistry that keeps things interesting. “I’m always throwing a curveball at him. He goes crazy and it makes me laugh so I keep doing it,” she confessed. Despite their differences, Marie made it clear that Donny is like a sister to her, saying, “I never had a sister growing up, but Donny was the closest thing!”
Now, I wonder how Donny feels about being called his sister. I bet he takes it with a good laugh, just like everything else in life.
