“You never know what’s waiting for you just around the corner, so it’s essential to keep your spirit alive and thriving,” Winkler said thoughtfully. “There were times after Happy Days when things got tough for me for about nine years. Acting opportunities dried up, and I had to pivot. So, I became a producer and worked on shows like MacGyver. But acting has always been my true passion, and I never stopped believing. You just have to stay resilient, keep your spirit high, and trust that everything will work out in the end.”

Henry was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in Barry, but he was edged out by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Tony Shalhoub. Still, the actor has plenty to celebrate. Just a few months earlier, in September 2018, he won his first-ever Emmy for his work on Barry, delivering one of the most heartfelt and memorable acceptance speeches in television history.
“Oh my God! I only have 37 seconds, but this speech was written 43 years ago,” Winkler gushed during his Emmy win. “A long time ago, Skip Brittenham told me, ‘If you stay at the table long enough, the chips will eventually come to you.’ And tonight, I got to clear the table.” He then expressed his gratitude to the creators, producers, and cast of Barry, specifically praising Bill Hader and Alec Berg. “If you ever get the chance to work with Bill Hader or Alec Berg, run—don’t walk,” he added. “Thank you for producing us, creating us, directing us, and for Bill, for acting alongside us. And to all of our incredible writers, thank you.” Fans are already buzzing about what Henry might say if he ever wins a SAG Award.
