Even though Shania Twain is the best-selling female artist in country music history, the global superstar still gets nervous meeting famous people. It’s a refreshing reminder that even the biggest stars have their own moments of awe and admiration. In a recent interview with Savannah Guthrie on Today, Shania Twain revealed her surprising vulnerability when it comes to mingling with other celebs. Let's dive into what she had to say and why it makes her so relatable.
During a fun segment called “Six-Minute Marathon,” the 53-year-old singer opened up about her experiences with fame and how it affects her interactions with other celebrities. Believe it or not, Shania admits she feels awkward around famous people, often unsure of what to say or how to act. “I’m not very good with stars,” she confessed. “I get really uncomfortable, I don’t know what to say. I am very shy actually. I just feel like I’m invading their space by being with them.”
Even as an executive producer of Real Country, Shania Twain isn’t immune to the starstruck feeling. She recalls her first encounter with Madonna, one of the biggest pop stars in the world, and admits it was an awkward experience. “I was awkward with Madonna when I first met Madonna,” she reveals. But Shania understands why this happens. “I understand why it happens,” she says. “I’m sympathetic and empathetic about how they’re feeling in that moment because I do the same thing.”

Shania Twain also shared how she thinks she’d react if she ever meets Brad Pitt, an Oscar-nominated actor. “I’ve never met Brad Pitt, but I know I’m going to be awkward,” she says. This honesty makes her even more relatable. It’s like we’re all in the same boat when it comes to meeting our idols. Despite her fame, Shania Twain proves that she’s just like the rest of us when it comes to starstruck moments.
Interestingly, Shania Twain has another side to her that might surprise fans—her struggle with stage fright. In an interview on Live With Kelly and Ryan, she confessed, “I suffer a lot from stage fright. And the only way to manage it is to be able to be prepared.” Shania explained that she spends the entire day meticulously preparing for a two-hour show due to her anxiety. “Everything I eat, everything I drink, I’m very methodical about the course of the day and then I’m OK,” she said. “It’s like preparing for an exam. Every show is like an exam. I gotta get out there and do my best.”
