Family Life on the Horizon for Maks and Peta

These two pro dancers welcomed their first bundle of joy, Shai, a year ago, and it seems like they're already tossing around the idea of adding another little one to the mix. In a recent chat with In Touch Weekly, Maks opened up about his thoughts on having another child. Here's the kicker: while Maks is all in, he knows it's really up to Peta to make the final call.

Let me break it down for you. Maks said, “I don’t know, it’s up to her. It’s her timing, her career. But when it’s go time, I’m ready to go.” Now, that’s commitment. The couple named their first son Shai Chmerkovskiy, and while Maks absolutely loves spending time with Shai, he wouldn’t mind welcoming a baby girl into the family. Interestingly, it’s Peta who’s okay with more boys because, as she puts it, Shai is going to be a mama’s boy. But if they do end up with a daughter? Maks says, “that’s for me.”

Life After Dancing with the Stars

Once Maks and Peta started their family, they quickly realized that some things just don’t matter as much anymore. For instance, they decided not to return to Dancing with the Stars Season 27. Sure, fans missed them, but the couple was all about focusing on their little family bubble. Maks explained that having Shai changed everything for them. “We now have someone that’s a little bit of her and a little bit of me, and it’s truly a miracle,” he told In Touch. He went on to say that the best part of his day is when Shai greets him in the morning. Can you picture that? It’s heartwarming, right?
