When it comes to Hollywood power couples, Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem are at the top of the list. These two have shared the screen multiple times, dazzling audiences with their chemistry. But if you're wondering why you won't be seeing them in as many films together, here's the inside scoop straight from Penélope herself.
Penélope, 44, and Javier, 49, have graced the big screen together in iconic films like Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Just Frenzy, Live Flesh, Not Love, and Loving Pablo. But according to Penélope, the era of frequent joint projects is probably coming to an end. In a recent interview with Marie Claire, she opened up about why the two of them are making this choice. "It's not something we want to do too often," she explained. "We can't just pick roles because it's convenient or easier. We have to protect what we have as a couple, and sometimes that means saying no to projects that could bring us together on screen."
Penélope went on to elaborate on the complexities of working with someone as close as your spouse. "On one hand, it's easier because you know each other so well," she said. "You understand how the other person works, and that can create a beautiful synergy. But on the other hand, doing it too often can get a little scary. You never know if mixing your personal life with your professional life too much might shake things up. My gut tells me it's better to keep it occasional, even though the experiences we've had so far have been amazing."

But don’t worry, fans! Penélope and Javier are still set to star together in the upcoming February release, Everybody Knows. And guess what? Their characters aren’t a couple this time around. Penélope explained, "We don't want to always play a couple. In Everybody Knows, our characters have a past, but they're not together. In Loving Pablo, they are, but it’s a very different kind of couple, which keeps things fresh and exciting."
Penélope and Javier aren't the only Hollywood couple making waves on the big screen. Emily Blunt and John Krasinski have also been lighting up the screen together. Emily opened up about her experience working alongside her husband, saying, "I didn’t want it to just be, 'Oh, how cute they're working together.' This was something bigger than our marriage. It was an incredible opportunity for John as a director, filmmaker, and writer. I knew this was a big step for him, and I wanted to be a part of it."
